Dak Lak police warn after acid containers swept away in floods

Dak Lak police have warned residents to stay away from 100 sulphuric acid containers swept away from a sugar plant during severe flooding.

Police in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak have issued a safety alert after 100 sulphuric acid containers from the Tuy Hoa Sugar Plant were carried away in recent floods.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, head of Son Thanh Commune Police Department, said the blue and grey containers, each holding 20 litres, were swept off site during severe flooding on Thursday.

Residents who encounter any of the containers are urged not to open them and to report their location to local authorities.

Huong said no containers had been found so far.

As of 11 am on November 20, historic flooding in Dak Lak has left 11 people dead and four missing according to a report by local authorities.
