Vietnam has continued to report rising number of Covid-19 infections with additional 27,311 cases confirmed on Saturday, the Ministry of Health has reported.
According to the ministry's report, 27,302 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 60 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (2,981), Nam Dinh (1,842), Hai Duong (1,681), Nghe An (1,550), Hai Phong (1,394). There were nine imported cases confirmed the same day.
The new infections showed an increase of 831 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 19,217 infections found in the community.
As of Saturday evening, 2,477,326 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (515,669), Binh Duong (293,214), Hanoi (165,574), Dong Nai (100,042), and Tay Ninh (88,730). Vietnam has so far confirmed 192 Omicron-infected cases.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 2,484,481. The country now stands 34th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On February 12, an additional 6,270 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 2,218,939.
On Saturday evening, a further 78 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 38,402. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Hanoi (18), Dong Nai (7), Ben Tre (5), Bac Ninh (4), Danang (4), and Vinh Long (4).
Vietnam on February 11 administered 401,319 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 185.25 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, including over 74.67 million people having received two doses and over 31.37 million people having received three doses.
