The firm was tasked with incineration but had no authority to bury waste.

Da Lat Solid Waste Treatment Plant has been caught illegally burying around 40,000 tonnes of solid waste
The violation was detected at 163B area in Xuan Truong Commune, Da Lat City following a sudden check by the provincial environmental police board. The company’s truck was caught pouring the waste into a four-metre hole in the one-hectare area managed by the firm.
The firm has buried roughly 30,000 cubic metres of solid waste, equal to 40,000 tonnes. The place where the waste was buried is full of bad smell with the leakage of polluted water from the waste.
Da Lat Solid Waste Treatment Plant has been put into operation in 2015 with the designed capacity in the first phase to treat 200 tonnes of solid waste per day. After being buried, the waste will be turned into fertilizer.
However, in many cases, the firm has failed to treat the waste quickly enough, which has seriously affected the surrounding environment.
