A concert series opened in Hanoi on October 27 to mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK).
The two-day event, entitled “We are Friends Concert with Sumi Jo”, features performances by famous artists from both countries, including singer Sumi Jo, conductor Bang Seong Ho, singer Đức Tuấn and the Vietnam National Orchestra.
The concert highlighted "K-classics" - a cultural feature that is popular with Vietnamese audience.
Sumi Jo is a well-known singer in the RoK who has achieved success abroad. She has performed in many European countries and under the baton of leading conductors in five opera houses in Europe.
The Korean artist was presented the “Golden Goose” award in 1993 as the best soprano in Italy. She also received the Puccini international prize in 2008.
