
The event, which will be held at 8 pm on November 19 as part of activities to mark the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, will see the attendance of deputy PM Tran Luu Quang and leaders of departments and agencies.
This marks the 12th year that such a ceremony has been held in Vietnam, which aims to raise public awareness about traffic accidents, enhance understanding of traffic safety, and call for assistance for traffic accident victims and their families.
Participants will light candles and observe a one-minute silence to remember those who died due to traffic accidents.
Vietnamese traffic accidents reached 9,826, up 2.65 percent between January and October this year, claiming 5,496 lives, a 12.54 percent increase, and injuring 6,973 others, a 5.11 percent rise, year-on-year respectively. October alone saw 1,491 traffic accidents, leaving 731 dead and 1,171 injured.
