Central region forecasted to face intense heatwave

The central region of Vietnam has been forecasted to witness an intense heatwave, with the highest temperature of 39 degrees Celsius.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from April 18 to April 24, localities from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen will see temperatures of 35-37 degrees Celsius. On April 20-24, the temperatures will increase to 36-39 degrees Celsius or even over 39 degrees Celsius in some areas.

After days of scorching heat, localities from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue will have scattered showers and thunderstorms on April 22. Several areas are expected to have moderate to heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, hot weather will persist for some days but less intensely in the southeastern region of Vietnam. Temperatures will likely peak between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius and last until April 20.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that this summer, the hot weather in Vietnam will arrive later and be less intense than in previous years.
