At least one passenger was killed after a car carrying 33 passengers plunged into an abyss in Dien Bien province early on December 26.
The accident happened when the passenger car was travelling past perilous Pha Din Pass in Chieng Ve commune, Thuan Chau district.
The driver was said to lose his control and crash into the roadside railings into the deep abyss.
A passenger was killed immediately, and four seriously injured passengers were admitted to a nearby hospital.
More than 20 other passengers survived the accident and they then took another car continuing their journey.
Relevant agencies were dispatched to the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
