An earthquake struck Hoa An Commune, Cao Bang Province, at around 2.39 am on August 9, according to local authorities.
Dam The Trang, chairman of the Hoa An Commune People's Committee, said the tremor lasted around 10 seconds and was felt in Hoa An and neighbouring communes. Residents reported feeling the ground shake and hearing a loud rumbling sound.
"No casualties or property damage have been reported in Hoa An Commune so far," Trang said.
It was the fourth earthquake recorded in Cao Bang in the past two weeks.
Most recently, on the afternoon of August 3, residents in Bao Lac Commune reported hearing a loud sound apparently coming from underground before feeling their houses shake for several seconds.
Earlier, on the morning of July 30, a magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck Bao Lac Commune.
At 8.51 pm on August 1, another earthquake, measuring magnitude 3.2, was recorded in Hung Dao Commune, around 25km from the epicentre of the previous quake.
