Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, 37, from Yen The District’s Dong Son Commune was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago following the symptoms of pains in the chest and high fevers.
She has three children, two daughters and one son. The oldest Khieu Thi Huyen Trang, 14, has been struggling with cerebral palsy since being born.

Over the past year, Huyen and her husband Khieu Van Quyen borrowed money from different sources to take Trang to hospitals for treatment but her condition has not improved.
Huyen experienced two operations along with chemotherapy treatment. Without money to continue the treatment, Huyen’s condition has worsened. She has decided to return home.
To date, the family has incurred a debt of around VND400 million (USD16,528).
The family now depends on the modest salary of Quyen who works for local construction sites.
Dang Quy Hung, chairman of Dong Son Commune, said Huyen’s family is in great difficulty. He hoped that through Dantri/DTiNews Newspapers, donors would be able to assist them.
