All ships and ferries connecting Rach Gia-Phu Quoc, Ha Tien- Phu Quoc, and Rach Gia-Nam Du have just temporarily halted operations from July 20
Kien Giang Maritime Port Authority announced on July 20 that boat and ferry services to Phu Quoc Island have been suspended since 6am the same day until the weather improves.
The recent bad weather has affected many visitors to the island during the peak summer holiday.
Earlier this month, more than 40,000 tourists including over 2,100 foreign visitors were stranded on the island for three days between July 11-13 during the suspension of shipping services due to bad weather.
A fishing boat with seven crew members aboard was returning to shore in Duong Dong Ward in Phu Quoc City on July 12 when it was sunk by strong wind and high waves. Five fishermen managed to swim ashore while the bodies of the missing were found over the following days.
