Three drowned after a boat carrying eight women on board capsized in the Go Trau River of Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province, on December 27.
The boat was said to be too small to transport eight people across the river amidst strong winds.
The women were on a contract to transplant rice on the other bank of the river.
Local people only rescued five women and the other three drowned.
Tam Ky city provided the bereaved VND3 million each to support their funeral.
