Phuoc Binh National Park Deputy Director Nguyen Ngoc Minh said a research team had set up camera traps which detected two herds of bison at the national park with 13-17 individuals. Many bison footprints were found.

The photo traps have also recorded many rare wild animal species, including 18 yellow-cheeked crested gibbons, with black-shanked doucs, chamois and civet musk.
The information collected will help better explain fluctuations in species numbers at the national park and allow for the management and conservation measures of the different animal species.
As one of the most diverse national parks in the country, Phuoc Binh is now home to 1,338 kinds of floral, 172 of which are listed as rare species in the Vietnam Red Book, and 58 in the IUCN’s Red List, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
Additionally, the national park provides the habitat for 347 species of fauna, 64 of which are named in the Vietnam Red Book and 50 in the IUCN’s Red List. It is home to four species endemic to Indochina: the yellow-cheeked gibbon, black-shanked douc, owston’s palm civet, and giant muntjac.
