On Wednesday evening, rescue forces continued to search all rooms of the An Phu Karaoke Bar to find those trapped inside.


As of 7pm, an additional 17 more bodies had been pulled out of the debris and rescue work was underway, according to Binh Duong Provincial Police Department. Earlier, 15 bodies had also been recovered. One other victim died at the hospital due to serious injuries.

The victims, 17 men and 16 women, have not been unaccounted for, the police said.

Although the fire has been extinguished, rescue forces have yet to access the two VIP rooms of the karaoke bar due to overheating.

According to police reports, the fire broke out at 9pm on September 6 from the second and third floor of the three-storey bar building. Some staff members and customers were injured after jumping off from the building. Rescue teams managed to save dozens of people from the site and brought the fire under control in about 40 minutes.

Initial investigations showed that the fire might have been caused by faulty electrical outlets.
