Le Thi Kim Hoa, chairwoman of Nam Khanh Vinh Commune, told Dantri/Dtinews on the morning of November 17 that the landslide on National Highway 27C through Khanh Le Pass had killed five people, with three bodies recovered and two still trapped under debris.
Thirteen injured passengers from the bus have been taken to Khanh Hoa General Hospital.
The incident occurred shortly after 11 pm on November 16, when rocks and soil suddenly collapsed onto the road and struck a bus carrying 32 passengers from Lam Dong's Dalat City to Khanh Hoa.
Emergency teams are using machinery and local manpower to access the site and search for those still missing. Falling debris continues to pose risks as rescue efforts continue, and local authorities are directing traffic and supporting emergency operations.
At about 6 pm the same day, another landslide hit Khanh Son Pass in Cam An Commune, burying three people. Rescuers have recovered two victims: one died and the other is being treated in hospital.
According to the Khanh Hoa Hydro-meteorological Station, the province recorded moderate to heavy rain in the past 24 hours, with totals of 30 to 80 millimetres and more than 120 millimetres in some areas. Widespread rainfall has triggered landslides and deep flooding across multiple locations.
National Highway 27C, more than 120 kilometres long, connects Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa provinces. The Khanh Le Pass section features sharp bends and elevations reaching 1,700 metres above sea level, and has seen frequent road accidents since it opened.
