The five-year-old rock concert kicked off at May To Stadium and left Hai Phong fans screaming for more. It arrives in Hanoi on December 29 and then passes through Hue on January 5, Da Nang on January 12, Bien Hoa on January 19, HCM City on January 26 and Can Tho on January 31.

Each show will be divided into two parts including performances from well-known bands such as Buc Tuong (The Wall), Microwave, Ngu Cung (The Pentatonic) and Unlimited, as well as emerging artists.

Musician Quoc Trung, who is general director of this year's concert, said: "After two years working in this position, I have gained a lot of experience of how to put on a real rock show," he said.

Trung, who is also a judge for Vietnam Idol 2012 said Rock Storm is an important programme for young people.

"Rock is a music genre that can make many people come alive. I hope that Rock Storm will become an established music festival that is held from noon until late at night," he said.

As is common by now, Rock Storm 2012 is held in large stadiums across seven cities, using international standard sound and light equipment.

Besides musician Trung, the production crew also includes Japanese expert Masaaki Azuma, who oversees the sound system, Doan Chi Nghia in charge of the bands and lighting designer Julian Hodgson from Scotland.

Each ticket costs VND30,000 ($1.5) and only 20,000 tickets will be issued for each show. Audiences can book tickets via the SMS system of rockstorm.vn.

A portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Operation Smile fund for children with cleft palates and poor students.
