Vietnamese airlines will offer 5.5 million tickets on domestic flights for the coming Tet Lunar New Year.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), the peak time for Tet flights will be from January 25 to February 24.
Vietnamese airlines will also offer around 2.1 million tickets for international flights during this period.
CAAV reported that in the first ten months of this year, Vietnamese airlines conducted 241,177 flights. Among those, only 84.9 percent, equivalent to 204,816 flights were on time, down 4.1 percent on-year
Some travel agents in Hanoi said that the number of Tet flights was higher than the same period of previous years. The agents said that people should consider the time to buy air tickets. Rushing to buy tickets could cause higher prices. Airlines often increase flight frequency based on demand. The provision of more flights would help to ease ticket prices.
CAAV also asked the Ministry of Transport to seek government approval to reduce some taxes for airlines, including environment tax, as well as offering preferential loans.
