Of the new locally-infected cases, 87 were found in Bac Giang, 45 in HCM City, 11 in Tien Giang, seven in Binh Duong, one in Lang Son and one in Ha Tinh province, including 156 confirmed in blocked or quarantine areas.
The outbreak in HCM City remains complicated. Among the newly-detected cases, 14 cases were closely linked to the Revival Ekklesia Mission Vietnam, a Christian congregation in Go Vap District. The infection source of the city’s two cases is unknown and still under the epidemic investigation.
HCM City’s number of infections has surpassed the 1,000, standing third just behind Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces.
By 6 am on Thursday, Vietnam documented a total of 11,794 Covid-19 patients, including 61 deaths. Since April 27 when the fourth Covid-19 wave started hitting Vietnam, the country has recorded up to 8,568 Covid-19 cases.
Twenty-four Vietnamese provinces have gone through 14 days without reporting any new Covid-19 infections.
To date, 4,590 Covid-19 patients in Vietnam have been discharged from hospital.
