The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Nghe An provincial People’s Committee held a ground breaking ceremony for the Ban Mong reservoir in Yen Hop village, Quy Hop district on May 30.
The reservoir will provide irrigation for 26,000ha of agricultural land in the districts of Quy Hop, Nghia Dan, Tan Ky and Anh Son and Thai Hoa town. This is the key irrigation project under the framework of the province’s socio-economic development progamme. It will be built over five years at a cost of VND4,455 billion, of which VND3,800 billion will come from Government bonds and the remaining from the Agriculture & Irrigation Mechanization and Electrification Corporation (AGRIMECO).
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung said this is the biggest project of economic and social significance in the North-Central region. He asked the project management board and execution units to ensure the safety, quality, and economic efficiency of the project.
