Every day, Le Dinh Canh from Dinh Hoa District’s Boc Nhieu Commune has to feed his daughter Le Thi Oanh who has been paralysed since a work accident four years ago.

Canh said that he had three daughters. One of them died. Oanh is the eldest. Oanh married two times, but both of her marriages broke up. Oanh had two daughters with her two husbands.
Oanh had to try to work very hard to support her children as a single mother.
At the end of 2018, when picking tea on a hill, she suddenly fainted and fell onto a rock nearby. Despite being quickly taken to hospital, her skull was injured, causing the left side of her body to be paralysed. Doctors said that she needed surgery so that she could better recover, but her family could not afford it. So, Oanh was taken back home; her remaining body also became paralysed after that.
Oanh’s daughter Le Thu had to stop studying at a university to earn money. The young girl has done different kinds of jobs, including being a shipper.
Le Dinh Nga, chairman of Boc Nhieu Commune, said that Canh’s family were among the poorest households in the locality. Local authorities have helped to build a new house for them. Every month, they receive a modest subsidy from the government for being a poor household.
