The Military Command of the northern province of Yen Bai successfully defused a 350-kilo bomb in Van Yen District on August 29.
A 350-kilo bomb was safely defused in Yen Bai Province on August 29
The bomb which is 0.42m in diameter and 1.26m in length and was found at a depth of 1.5m on a cinnamon hill owned by Nguyen Quang Hoa, a local resident in Tan Thanh hamlet, Yen Thai commune on August 23.
The bomb was identified as one of a type used by the US army from 1968-1970 during the American War.
As many as 70 officers and soldiers were mobilized to move the bomb to another area for deactivation to ensure the safety of residents.
