All crew members of the Cong Thanh 07 vesser are rescued on May 26.

Speaking to Dantri on the morning of May 28, Nguyen Duc Tung, Director of the Ha Tinh Maritime Administration, said the Cong Thanh 07 sank in the waters off Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh Province, at a depth of 40 to 50 metres, about nine nautical miles from Vung Ang Port. At the time of the incident, the ship carried approximately 30 tonnes of diesel.

An initial site inspection has not revealed any signs of an oil leak. However, maritime authorities have stressed the urgency of salvaging the vessel to prevent potential marine pollution.

"We've also instructed the ship owner to mark the location of the sunken vessel and place warning buoys to ensure the safety of passing shipping," Tung said.

The incident occurred around 9.45 pm on May 25, when the Cong Thanh 07, carrying more than 4,900 tonnes of coal from Quang Ninh Province to Quang Binh Province, experienced engine failure off Ha Tinh.

Heavy rain and rough seas flooded the vessel, sinking it approximately nine nautical miles offshore.

After a 15-hour search and rescue operation, local authorities and fishermen safely rescued all 11 crew members.
