230 Vietnamese students respond to ASIAD 2014

A series of contests and games were launched in Hanoi on July 22 in the lead up to the 17th Asian Games to be held in the Republic of Korea in 2014.

A series of contests and games were launched in Hanoi on July 22 in the lead up to the 17th Asian Games (ASIAD) to be held in the Republic of Korea (RoK) in 2014.

The event, co-organized by the Olympic Council of Asia and the organizing board of the 17th ASIAD, has attracted 230 students aged 14-15 from Hanoi-Amsterdam secondary school.

Through Fun Run, Fun Learn and Youth Reporter contests and games, it aims to broaden young Asian people’s knowledge about the Asian culture and history of the Asian Games, particularly the upcoming Asian Games in 2014.

As many as 200 students registered to take part in a 1,000m race in the first part of the programme – Fun Run.

In Fun Learn, the students answer multiple choice questions about sports and history of the Asian Games.

Thirty students participate in the final part-Youth Reporter in which each is required to write an English essay about sports and the Asian Games.

The winner in Fun Learn and Youth Reporter will receive certificates of the Olympic Council of Asia and a trip to the RoK to attend the 17th Asian Games.
