In their letters, the leaders of both countries emphasized that the friendship between the two countries has withstood historical challenges, while affirming its strong and ever-growing vitality. Over the past 75 years, they said, the Russian people have always stood shoulder to shoulder with Vietnam, supporting its many achievements in defending the homeland and in the process of national construction.

The Vietnamese leaders expressed the strong bond, solidarity, and the invaluable legacy of many generations of leaders and peoples of both countries, which both sides are committed to preserving and enhancing.

The Russian leaders noted that with the joint efforts of both countries, the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to develop vigorously, meeting the core interests of both parties and contributing to enhanced security and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

Vietnam - Russia cooperation has been promoted in various fields, including economics, trade, science and technology, culture, humanities, and others. Vietnam and Russia share a long-standing traditional relationship. The Soviet Union was one of the first countries to recognize the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945. The two countries established diplomatic relations on January 30, 1950.

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in late 1991, Russia was recognized as the successor state. In June 1994, Vietnam and Russia signed a Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations, laying the foundation and legal basis for the relationship in the new development phase.

In a recent visit to Vietnam, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin affirmed that Russia is ready to support Vietnam in developing its nuclear power industry. He also proposed further cooperation in fields such as health care, labour, and pharmaceuticals.
