The scene of the landslide.
According to the witness, a small landslide already occurred at the location. Seven drivers were cleaning up the road when another landslide occurred on the afternoon of November 11. One of them suddenly saw a part of the hill collapse and told the others to run. Even though most of them were able to escape the landslide, two people were still injured and one remains missing.
The landslide is near Song Tranh 2 Hydropower Plant and blocked the road connecting Bac Tra My and Nam Tra My districts.
Le Dinh Minh, one of the drivers, said he was travelling from Phu Ninh to Bac Tra My when he saw the blocked road so he and other drivers stopped to clean it up. "We were about to leave when I heard someone screamed run, run," he said.
Bac Tra My Medical Station transferred the injured people to Quang Nam General Hospital.
The search and rescue mission was hindered by heavy rain. Bac Tra My Steering Committee for Search and Rescue halted the mission on November 11. Police were sent to block the landslide area.
