According to airport officials, twelve separate laser attacks targeting aircraft have been recorded since the beginning of 2025. The incidents occurred in areas within Dien Ban Town and Duy Xuyen District in Quang Nam Province, roughly 12 to 15 kilometres from the airport, at altitudes between 600 and 900 metres.

Airport representatives warned that aiming laser beams at aircraft is extremely hazardous, particularly during the landing phase. "Laser exposure can temporarily blind pilots, posing a serious threat to flight safety at a critical moment when precision and focus are paramount," a spokesperson noted.

On April 11, the Central Airports Authority notified Quang Nam Police of laser activity in Dien Ban Town. However, despite these efforts, the perpetrator remains unidentified, and further laser incidents were reported between April 15 and 17.

In response, Tran Nam Hung, Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam People’s Committee, instructed relevant agencies to intensify inspections and swiftly prevent any further occurrences. He also called for strict penalties against individuals violating aviation safety regulations.

Quang Nam authorities have since launched awareness campaigns to educate the public on aviation security. Residents are urged to refrain from using high-powered lights, laser pointers, drones, kites, or balloons near Danang International Airport.

Danang International Airport serves as a key gateway to central Vietnam and handles millions of passengers annually, making flight safety a top priority for both local and national authorities.
