On Wednesday afternoon, the man played pickleball with his friends at a court in Ha Tinh City. At around 5.30 pm, he dropped to the ground and lost consciousness. Despite being taken to Ha Tinh General Hospital for emergency treatment, he had already died before arrival.
According to doctors, he had suffered cardiac arrest. He had a pre-existing heart condition.
The man was physically active and used to play badminton. His sudden collapse may have been caused by overexertion, particularly amid the hot and humid weather.
Doctor Pham Huu Da, Head of Ha Tinh General Hospital's Cardiology Department, said people with heart problems or underlying health conditions should seek medical advice before joining sports or physical activities.
They should avoid strenuous exercise during hot weather, especially at midday when temperatures soar; he also urged the public to equip themselves with basic emergency first aid skills.
