According to local authorities, most of the households being isolated were in the moutainous areas.

"Flooding caused by heavy rain over the past two days have caused flash floods and landslides in many areas," local authorities said. "As of Tuesday evening, we had evacuated 287 households with 1,124 residents in Tuyen Hoa, Le Thuy, and Minh Hoa districts to safe places."

A man has died when a flood swept through Tuyen Hoa District on November 5.

Localities in central Vietnam has experienced widespread heavy rain and thunderstorms since November 3 due to the impact of high-altitude easterly wind disturbances combined with intensified cold air from the north.

Localities from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai are anticipated to endure widespread heavy rain and thunderstorms with rainfall of 70-150mm or even 300mm within hours.

The National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting warned that heavy rain will raise the water levels of local rivers to the third alert level, which may trigger widespread flooding from Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh.
