The two dredgers found on the Red River
According to the Vietnam Inland Waterway Administration, the dredgers of around 100 tonnes each travelled through Coc Leu and Pho Moi bridges in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, but luckily did not cause any collisions.
However, the administration warned that amid the sharply rising water level of the Red River, the two dredgers would hit bridges across the Red River.
The Vietnam Inland Waterway Administration has reported the problem to the Ministry of Transport for solutions.
Due to prolonged heavy rains brought about by Typhoon Yagi, hydroelectric reservoirs have opened several floodgates, causing the Red River to rapidly rise to near warning levels. Many areas in Hanoi have been warned of flooding.
Meanwhile, many northern mountainous localities are still struggling with severe inundation because of the typhoon.
