Vietnamese student wins again with her acclaimed film

Secondary student Ho Thi Hieu Hien has just won special prize in the Japan International Film Contest for Asian Children.

Secondary student Ho Thi Hieu Hien from the central city of Da Nang has just won the special prize in the Japan International Film Contest for Asian Children.

Director Hieu Hien and her two assistants, who study at the same school, received the prize for the film “Thuy’s learning time”.

According to the announcement from the organising board, the contest gathered 65 films from 10 Asian countries and territories. 20 films have been awarded prizes including 7 consolation prizes, 4 prizes for excellence, 1 prize from the Japanese Minister of Science, 1 prize from Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, and 5 special prizes from the organising board.

Earlier, “Thuy’s learning time” won 1st prize in the National Film Contest for Vietnamese Students. The contest was organised by the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, which aimed at celebrating the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Ho Thi Hieu Hien is also the first-prize winner of the 39th Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Letter-Writing Competition launched in early September.
