The agreement was reached during talks in Hanoi on March 25 between Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Danh Huy and representatives of China’s Ministry of Commerce.

At the meeting, the Chinese side also handed over a draft preliminary feasibility study for the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Haiphong railway, a flagship project in the two countries’ rail cooperation.

Huy said Vietnam had recently signed four railway cooperation documents with China, with early coordination already delivering encouraging results. Relevant agencies are now working to align procedures and advance implementation.

China’s representative, Zhang Guanbin, described the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Haiphong line as a key bilateral project, adding that feasibility work had been prepared to a high standard.

For the Hanoi-Dong Dang and Haiphong-Ha Long-Mong Cai routes, China will follow a similar development model while ensuring quality and progress, he said.

Both sides agreed to continue close coordination on technical assistance projects and resolve outstanding issues, aiming to accelerate railway connectivity and deepen strategic cooperation between the two countries.
