Tak Po emerges as cloud-chasing destination in central Vietnam

Perched at an elevation of around 1,500 metres in central Vietnam, Tak Po Village is attracting visitors with its sea of clouds and indigenous cultural experiences.

Located in Tra Tap Commune, Danang, the village is home to nearly 50 Ca Dong households and is known for its cool climate and cloud-covered mountain landscapes.

The cloud-hunting season typically runs from March to August, when layers of white clouds drift across the landscape, creating dramatic scenery that attracts photographers and nature lovers.

Beyond its natural beauty, Tak Po offers visitors an opportunity to explore the traditional culture of the Ca Dong and Xe Dang ethnic communities.

As community-based tourism has developed, local residents have begun organising cultural performances featuring gong music, traditional dances and storytelling sessions about local customs and daily life.

Homestays have also emerged in recent years, allowing visitors to experience local cuisine and participate in community activities while enjoying views of the surrounding mountains.

Tran Thi Nhu Oanh, a local homestay owner, said tourism had brought positive changes to the area, including improved transport links and growing opportunities for local residents.

Local authorities said future tourism development would focus on community-based models, with residents providing accommodation, cultural experiences and local products.

The commune also plans to develop tourism products linked to nearby attractions, including Tak Pang Community Cultural Village, Lang Loang residential area and Ngoc Linh ginseng-growing areas.
