With nearly 30 weekly flights, southern central Khanh Hoa Province welcomed 279,000 Russian visitors in the first eight months of 2025, a nearly 300 per cent rise from the same period last year, surpassing pre-pandemic levels thanks to resumed direct flights, competitive travel costs, favorable weather, and relaxed visa policie
According to the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the province received 279,000 Russian visitors during the eight-month period, surpassing the figures from 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cam Ranh International Airport now handles about 30 weekly flights from Russian cities, including 26 charter flights operated by Ikar Airlines, IrAero Airlines, Vietjet Air, Azur Air, and RedWings, and four regular commercial flights by Aeroflot. More direct routes are expected from late September to early October, with Aeroflot and Nordwind Airlines expanding services from various Russian provinces.
Pham Minh Nhut, Chairman of the Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, attributed the surge in arrivals to the restoration of direct flights, favorable local weather, affordable travel costs, and appealing cuisine, saying Khanh Hoa has become an attractive choice.
Cung Quynh Anh, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, highlighted the role of Vietnam’s open visa policy, allowing Russian visitors stays of 15-30 days with multiple entries. The province has also invested in promotional campaigns, diversified tourism products, and enhanced service quality to attract visitors.
In total, Khanh Hoa received more than 12.8 million visitors in the first eight months of the year, including 3.7 million international tourists, generating over VND 50,500 billion in tourism revenue.
With this momentum, the province aims to surpass its 2019 record of 463,000 Russian arrivals and targets 5.4 million international visitors in 2025, focusing on key markets such as the Republic of Korea, China, and Europe.
