The village in Cam Khe District is well-known for raising carp for dozens of years. Over the recent years, the locals have concentrated on the red carp.

Every year for Kitchen Gods’ Day, traders rush to the village to buy the fish and then bring them to northern markets for sale.

Pumps are used to catch the fish.

Phan Van Huu, who has 10 years of experience in raising carp, said that each kilo of red carp is sold at VND80,000-100,000. Each kilo consists of around 30-35 carp.

After being caught, the fish will be classified.

Some households build tanks to keep fish temporarily while waiting for traders to come. They also pump oxygen into the banks.

In December 2017, the Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Science and Technology, officially certified the Red Carp Thuy Tram trademark.

Ha Cong Xuan, a resident, said that this year, fewer households have bred the red carp, but the village has seen a rise in the capacity. Many have harvested hundreds of kilos of the fish.
