The event was jointly held by Phu My Hung Corporation and the HCM City Association of Orchids and Ornamental Trees.
Unlike previous years, besides 700 stalls displaying flowers, bonsai trees and Tet specialties, the festival also includes a flower road running along the Ban Nguyet Lake.
The road portrays Vietnamese rural life with rice fields, straw piles, pumpkin plants and Central Highland communal houses.
More than 400 recycled works are also on display at the event, including carp fish made from old CDs, dragons made from second-hand plastic dishes, ornamental fish tanks made from computer screens and many other products.
The festival will close on January 21.
