A new strong cold spell is expected to hit the northern region from the evening of January 15.

The new cold spell will continue to lower temperatures, especially at night.

Meanwhile, sunny and dry weather will spread during the daytime, with the highest temperatures reaching 24 degrees Celsius.

On Wednesday and Thursday evenings, temperatures in Hanoi are forecasted to fall to 11 degrees Celsius and in the northern mountainous Sa Pa Town to 4 degrees Celsius.

Some mountain peaks in the northern and central regions may see frosts as temperatures plunge to below zero degrees.

Northern central localities will also experience severe cold weather with 9-12 degrees Celsius temperatures.

The northern region has reported three strong cold spells this winter, with the latter becoming more intense.

Since last weekend, frost has appeared across several high mountain peaks, including Phia Oac in Cao Bang Province, Lao Than in Lao Cai, and Ta Xua in Yen Bai, for the first time this winter.
