The award, which is the noblest in the field of ophthalmology in the region, was presented to the doctor along with 21 others at the 39th APAP Congress which took place on February 24 in Bali in Indonesia. Most notably, Triet was also the only Vietnamese representative to be honoured this year.

With over 30 years of experience in ophthalmology, the Vietnamese doctor has raised a number of valuable initiatives and co-operated alongside several international organisations to implement effective blindness prevention projects within the community.
