
Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan announced VND500 million as a thank-you to the team on Tuesday after attending their match against the Netherlands which they lost 7-0.
They were also given VND 800 million after the first match against the US in which they lost 3-0; and another VND500 million after their second match versus Portugal in which they lost 2-0.
The Vietnam team concluded their participation in the Women’s World Cup after conceding 12 goals and scoring none.
The VFF's chairman said that despite finishing bottom of their group in their first World Cup, the future looked bright for the team and women's football, as the women's game had received greater recognition and support.
"Although we didn't get a win at this year's World Cup, we appreciated the team's great efforts in this major event," he said. "We'll still have many competitions ahead and I hope that the team will have a chance to participate in the 2027 World Cup."
The team will return to Vietnam on August 3.
