A free swimming class in Ca Mau

A swimming class has opened at Van Lang Primary School in Ca Mau, attracting 30 pupils aged from six. All of them feel happy to join the class.

In the riverine region of Ca Mau, where rivers and canals are visible as soon as one steps out of the house, parents find the swimming lessons to be very practical.

To date, Ca Mau Youth Union has held four free swimming classes for 120 children.

Do Thi Lan, a swimming teacher, said that primary school students are taught basic swimming skills to get familiar with water. Then most of them are instructed in breaststroke.

This summer, the Ca Mau Youth Union has urged each district and town to hold swimming lessons for at least 100 children, provide 500 children with knowledge and skills for preventing accidents, drowning, and child abuse and assist around 1,000 children in difficult circumstances.
