An is facing acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropath

An has been staying at Bach Mai Hospital since late April due to acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy.

He was hospitalised after being fainted suddenly and having breathing difficulties and was then diagnosed with the disease.

An's treatment costs around VND10 million per day.

According to doctors, An has a good chance of recovery, but his family is too poor to continue the treatment. If the treatment was suspended, An could die.

In addition, Hanh recently suffered from appendicitis and underwent surgery.

An has borrowed VND700 million (USD27,405) from various sources to cover her husband's treatment.

Doctor Dang Duy Hien from Bach Mai Hospital's Intensive Care Unit said An is struggling with severe pneumonia and a fungal blood infection, requiring plasma exchange, treatment with specific medications, mechanical ventilation and intensive care. The doctor hoped donors could provide financial support to help An recover.
