Parents helplessly wait for daughter to awake from coma
A family in Ha Tinh Province is calling for financial support to help treat their daughter from brain injury after traffic accident.
Phan Thi Men, born in 1992, is the second of six siblings and works as an accountant at Bac Vinh Industrial Zone in Nghe An Province to support the family. Unfortunately, she was hit by a motorbike while visiting friends in Tet Holiday and suffers from traumatic brain injury.
"When we arrived, she was in a puddle of blood. Now two months have passed but she hasn't woken up. She's very lively and visited us whenever she has the time. Now she just lays there motionless," said Tran Thi Thanh, Men's mother.
"She also has acute pneumonia. In the past two months, we've borrowed money everywhere to keep her alive but now we're helpless," Men's father, Phan Van Hy said. "I'll regret it for the rest of my life if I have to force three of my children drop out of school."
Dr Le Minh Luong from Intensive Care Unit of Nghe An Hospital for Trauma and Orthopaedics said he couldn't tell anything as Men's situation was not good.
"We are closely monitoring her. It'll be costly because she needs long-term treatment and her family is in difficulty," he said.
