Vietnam will organise the first Fruit Festival in the Chinese capital of Beijing on September 29-30.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will jointly organise the event with the Vietnamese Embassy in China, the Vietnam Fruits and Vegetables Association, and Chinese partners.

Durian is the most exported fruit to China

The festival will be among Vietnam’s key trade promotion events in China. It will help promote fresh fruits, vegetables, and processed products licensed to be exported to China. It is expected to attract great attention from many Chinese and foreign firms.

In the first half of this year, Vietnam earned USD3.33 billion from exporting fruits and vegetables, up 24.3 percent on-year. USD2.1 billion came from China, accounting for around 64 percent of the total.

Durian, dragon fruit, pineapple, watermelon, mango, and longan are the most exported products to China.

China’s durian import demand is forecasted to reach USD20 million in 2025, which will present Vietnam with a major opportunity.
