The squad, including 24 players headed by Coach Falko Gotz, is scheduled to compete against Qatar in Al-Saad stadium on July 23.
After the match, the team will return to Hanoi on July 25 and train for another three days before playing Qatar in the return leg at My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi, on July 28 at 7.15pm. The match will be broadcast live on VTV2.
Veterans, including goalkeeper Nguyen The Anh, full-back Nguyen Van Bien, centre-back Tran Chi Cong and midfielder Le Tan Tai, have been asked to help out with training. Goalie Tan Truong won’t feature in the squad due to injury.
Concerning Qatar, Coach Falko Gotz admitted, “I don’t know much about them. I’ve just watched them once in friendly against the Swiss. However, I guess that they’re at a higher level than us. But for that reason I expect us to play even harder."
