A widow in Ha Nam Province is calling for financial support to help save her son from leukaemia.
Dinh Thi Hang's husband fell off a cliff while he was on the way home in 2003. "When he died, my daughter was only two years old and my son was just three months," she said.

As Hang had lost three fingers to the rice grinder years ago and only graduated from high school, she was unable to find work to support the children. Hang asked to set up a small house on public land to and sell tea and snacks to travellers.

But then in 2010, Hang's youngest son, Bui Ngoc Thanh, was diagnosed with leukaemia. Hang was so shocked by the news that she fainted at the hospital. Hang's daughter has planned to drop out of school several times to find work to help her mother.
"My mother told me that my brother would be cured. But when I grew up I came to know that it's a deadly disease. That's why my mother cries every night," Hang's daughter, Lan, said. "I wish my brother would not have to die because I know my mother would not be able to live on."
