Nguyen Thi Cuc (centre) receives the donations on March 26, 2025.
Dantri readers donated this amount after the newspaper featured her plight.
At 85, Cuc still works tirelessly to support her three ailing daughters. Now in their late fifties and early sixties, none of them has ever married, and all suffer from severe health conditions. One is blind, another has muscular atrophy and is unable to work, while the third battles mental illness.

Cuc and her late husband had five children: two sons and three daughters. Both sons have families of their own, but due to poor health and financial struggles, they are unable to provide any assistance. As a result, the three daughters remain in her care.
Currently, Cuc survives on a meagre social welfare allowance and a modest income from selling bananas, making daily life difficult.

She was overwhelmed when she received the donation and stated that she had never saved such a large sum in her life.
She shared that following the Dantri report, many kind-hearted individuals contacted her to offer direct support.
"I am deeply grateful to the benefactors who have helped me care for my daughters. I will put this money into savings and only withdraw it when we need it for medical expenses," she shared.
