Dantri Newspaper, in collaboration with local authorities and Minh Xuan Commune, Yen Bai Province residents, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the VND500 million Trang Thanh Bridge on March 25.

This bridge has long been a dream of thousands of residents across nine villages in the commune.

According to residents of Trang Thanh Village, the stream in their village becomes extremely dangerous during the rainy season. Tragically, six children have drowned there in the past. During the dry season, people can wade across, but in the rainy season, they are forced to take a longer detour of 3-4 kilometres. Villagers have repeatedly gathered bamboo and wood to build temporary bridges, but seasonal floods frequently wash away these structures.

Following Typhoon Yagi in September 2024, the most recent temporary bridge was destroyed.

At the ceremony, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Dantri Newspaper, Nguyen Xuan Toan, expressed his delight at the commencement of the bridge's construction.

Today, we are overjoyed that Dantri has come to our community to commence construction of this bridge. This has been our dream for so long. The new bridge will not only make daily travel and trade easier for residents but, more importantly, will ensure the safety of our children on their way to school, preventing further drowning tragedies."
