Dantri delivers 400 Tet gift packages to poor households in Tuyen Quang

Dantri readers donated 400 Tet gifts to impoverished households in Minh Quang Commune, Tuyen Quang Province, through Dantri's representatives.

Dantri Newspaper, in coordination with the People’s Committee of Minh Quang Commune in Tuyen Quang Province, on February 11 distributed 400 Lunar New Year (Tet) gift packages to 400 disadvantaged households in the area.

Receiving the gift from Dantri readers in the days leading up to Tet, Ly Thanh Minh, 65, said he was deeply moved. He said his family would use the money to buy food for the holiday and give small gifts to his grandchildren.

Minh’s family is classified as poor in the locality. Both he and his wife are in poor health, while their children live far away and also face financial difficulties.

Ma Thi Nhu, 48, said she lives alone and is caring for her mother, who is over 70. She said the money donated by Dantri readers would be used to buy the traditional chung cakes to offer to her ancestors during Tet Festival.

Representing Dantri, journalist Nguyen Tuan Hop said the paper had been rolling out its nationwide Tet 2026 gift-giving campaign thanks to support from readers. He expressed gratitude to benefactors, organisations, businesses and local authorities who have accompanied the programme over the years.

At the event, Chau Thi Khuyen, chairwoman of the Minh Quang Commune People’s Committee, said the commune has a population of more than 20,000, including over 2,000 poor and near-poor households. She thanked Dantri readers and donors for bringing meaningful Tet gifts to local residents.

Dantri has launched a campaign to deliver Tet gifts to 1,000 households in areas hit by storms and floods in 2025. Beneficiaries include poor and near-poor families, policy households, elderly people living alone, orphans, and families who have lost homes or property.

Each gift package includes VND 1 million (USD 39) in cash and a box of traditional Tet sweets worth VND 100,000.
