The Red Cross Society of Danang, in coordination with Oxfam, on March 6 distributed unconditional multipurpose cash assistance to residents hardest hit by the disasters.
In Duy Xuyen and Dai Loc communes, 200 disadvantaged households in each locality received VND 3 million per household to cover essential needs and help stabilise their lives after the storms and floods.
Among the beneficiaries, 30 households with pregnant women, women raising children under two years old, or people with disabilities received an additional VND 1 million each to support healthcare and daily living.
The programme also recognised women who actively joined frontline disaster prevention and response efforts, as well as post-storm recovery in their communities. In each locality, 20 outstanding women received VND 1 million per person in support.
In the coming period, the Danang Red Cross Society will continue coordinating with Oxfam to implement support activities in Nong Son commune, helping residents overcome difficulties and restore their livelihoods.
The emergency disaster recovery project funded by Oxfam has been approved by the Danang People’s Committee. It aims to support about 1,500 households affected by Storm No. 12 and flooding in Duy Xuyen, Nong Son and Dai Loc.
In addition to emergency cash assistance, the project focuses on improving access to clean water and sanitation, supporting livelihood recovery, and strengthening disaster preparedness among local residents and authorities as climate change increases the intensity and frequency of extreme weather events.
