The city has targeted to launch waterway tourism products on the Saigon, Dong Nai, Nha Be, Soai Rap and Long Tau rivers by 2025.

Travel firms in HCM City will co-operate with southern localities such as Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Tien Giang, Long An and Ben Tre to build waterway tourism products.

The city will focus on building data about history, culture, and the distinctive features of local rivers and canals as well as creating waterway tourism routes and destination maps using GIS technology.

Last week, Ho Chi Minh City held the first-ever river festival, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign visitors.

HCM City is expected to have 200 speedboats and 100 ships and river cruise boats by 2025 to serve waterway tourism.
