Police in Lac Duong Commune, Lam Dong, said on May 11 they had coordinated with military and specialist units to secure the site where the unexploded ordnance was found.

The discovery was reported a day earlier after a local resident visited a pine hill in sub-area 143 of Lac Duong Commune and spotted a rusted metal object lying on the ground.
Suspecting it could be explosive material, the resident alerted local authorities.
Police and the commune’s military command quickly moved to cordon off the area, ensure public safety and handle the object in accordance with regulations.

According to Lac Duong Commune Police Department, the object was identified as a 60mm mortar shell left over from the war.
