The request was sent by Vu Hai, Deputy General Director of VOV. Hai also requested Vietnam Journalists Association add their call for the case to be dealt with.
VOV have also asked Hung Yen authorities to quickly investigate the case and announce their findings.
On April 24, two VOV journalists, Nguyen Ngoc Nam and Han Phi Long visited Xuan Quang Commune in Hung Yen's Van Giang District to investigate rumours of the forced removal of 166 households whose land had been earmarked for the Ecopark urban area.
Long said that when he was taking pictures when uniformed police officers assaulted him, took his camera and papers. When Nam tried to explain that they were VOV reporters, he was also assaulted. The two journalists were then handcuffed and led to local People's Procuracy to make statements. They were later released that night.
Upon receiving the news, VOV asked Hung Yen Police Department to provide an explanation but have yet to receive a reply.
